DRD Turns 18! My Reflections on 18 Years in Business

On May 18th, Dana Rebecca Designs turns 18—and I’m feeling all the emotions. DRD was born on May 18th, 2007 in Chicago, at a small but memorable event to launch my very first collection. I was young (ugh, I just turned 41 this year!) and had absolutely no idea what lay ahead. I always say I never dreamed this big—and it’s true.

Eighteen has always been a meaningful number to me. In Judaism, 18 symbolizes “chai,” or life. It’s a number we celebrate—often giving in multiples of 18, always with the intention of honoring life and luck. To me, 18 has also symbolized adulthood, growth, and significance. So to be celebrating our golden anniversary on May 18th, turning 18, feels incredibly full circle.

I’m deeply grateful for the DRD community—for every piece you’ve worn, every milestone we’ve celebrated together, and the trust you’ve given me to be a small part of your story. Thank you for growing with me. I can’t wait for what’s next.
